Blogging Basics with Blogger

Blogging is an online diary, short for web log, where the author annotates their personal thoughts, news, favorite links and any content of interest. The blogger has the ability to imbed video and audio tracks, include publishing feeds such as RSS or Share, archive old articles and receive comments from followers. Great for SEO purposes, blogging can generate viral growth, act as a point of communication with your followers and provide exposure to your artists, events and behind the scenes buzz. But how do you go about setting up a blog for your gallery or own artistic needs? When it comes to blogging, the major platforms are Blogger and Wordpress and like MySpace vs. Facebook they both have their pros and cons.

When it comes to deciding whether to use Blogger or WordPress, it really comes down to the integration of blogging into your daily activities. There is no point in having a blog unless either you or your staff are going to regularly contribute to it - meaning at least one post a week. Blogs run on regularity, up to date information of interest and they take time and effort to achieve results.
