Building a Better Bulk Email

By Debra Lanning 01/28/10

The two most important elements in sending a bulk email are the email address and the subject line. These are the two bits of information that are given to recipients of any email and it helps them decide whether to open the email or discard it as junk. The email address that the bulk email is sent from tells people who you are and if it is a trusted source. Domain based email accounts project a sense of ownership and reliability. If your bulk email is coming from a free email account, they may question whether or not to open it, since this type of behavior is typical of spammers. The second element, is the subject line, it sets the tone of the bulk email. The subject line is the initial content that an email recipient sees before opening the email. It should be short, but informative enough to persuade them to move forward.
