Demystifying the Artist Selection Process

“How do you select the artists you represent. What do you look for?” It’s the first question we’re asked by artists – and by new collectors --- when they visit our gallery or stop by our booth at one of the International Fairs.

Our submission process is simple: artist statement, CV and a dozen or so images of recent work. But our criteria for selecting the artists we choose to represent is often perplexing to some of the artists we meet.

“We represent art that we love.” we state simply.

Sometimes an emerging artist may ask, “What does that mean?

Art is a three way dialogue between the artist, the art and the viewer. It is an intimate and private experience. So we look for art that touches us, moves us, transforms us. Of course, our selection criteria is based on over 30 years of viewing art at major museums and galleries around the world, years of educating our eyes to old and modern masters. Ultimately our decision is based on a visceral connection between us and the artwork.
